Clinical Research at Spring Gardens

Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice is a host practice for clinical research studies and is the beacon for research in Worcestershire and most of the research work is undertaken here.

Recent / Current studies taking place:


This study focused on children and antibiotics and the antibacterial use in children. 




Primrose looked at severe mental health but looking at physical or cardiovascular issues they had with it. Patients randomised to usual care or intense care. Spring Gardens Medical Practice was selected to give intense care which the Health Care Assistant was trained up to undertake. The study showed this intensive care did not impact cholesterol levels, but did however reduce unplanned admissions.



This is an industry study currently running looking at skin rash in children and trialling a new cream.


Polymyalgia study to start soon. 


Chronic headache study to do intensive training in groups. 


Vacept study looking at HPV vaccine and asking patient 35-50 to see if they would rather have the vaccine then undertake the smear. 


Patients can opt out of being invited for the research.
